Lonnie Burma

Lonnie has been involved and playing music from early childhood. Raised in a Country/Gospel background with the “Burma Family Band” while growing up, Lonnie played around the Edmonton scene in the 70’s to early 80’s in various Country, Jazz, Rock and Blues settings. After attending Grant MacKewan Community College in 1984-86, Lonnie moved to BC and began his musical career as a drum shop owner, educator and musician.

Currently, Lonnie is educating “up and coming” students at his private drum studio in Kelowna, BC and performing with the local Jazz scene, vocal ensembles, festivals and school
workshops throughout BC.
Throughout his career, Lonnie has shared the stage with notables such as Tommy Banks, Pat Labarbera, Ian McDougall, Phil Nimmons, Campbell Ryga, Ross Taggert as well as the very talented local artists, bands, theatre and church productions. His ability to function in numerous styles combined with a multi-percussionist capacity offers much to any music situation.
